Specialist programs

At NPS, we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive education that supports the diverse interests and development of our students from Reception to Year 6.

In 2025, our specialist curriculum included:

  • Health & Physical Education: promoting fitness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles.
  • The Arts: covering visual arts, drama, and dance to nurture creativity and self-expression.
  • Languages Other Than English (LOTE): offering students the chance to learn additional languages and develop cultural awareness.

These specialist subjects complement the core curriculum and inspire a lifelong love of learning.

Music education

Our school values the importance of music and the arts. Dedicated specialist music teachers visit weekly, providing engaging lessons that include electives such as percussion, drums, and guitar. These programs help students develop musical skills, confidence, and an appreciation for the arts, fostering creativity in a supportive environment.

Extra-curricular activities

Beyond the classroom, NPS offers a vibrant range of extra-curricular activities designed to promote teamwork, physical activity, and social skills. Our strong SAPSASA program sees students competing in various sports, including:

  • soccer
  • football (girls and boys)
  • cricket (girls and boys)
  • basketball (girls and boys)
  • netball
  • athletics
  • swimming.

Participation in these events encourages values such as sportsmanship, resilience, and school spirit.

School choir and performances

Our school choir is an integral part of school life, rehearsing regularly and performing at various events. The highlight is their annual performance at the Primary Schools Festival of Music, where students showcase their talents, gain confidence, and enjoy the joy of musical performance. These experiences foster pride, community spirit, and a love for the arts.

At NPS, we believe that offering a broad range of specialist subjects and extra-curricular activities helps develop confident, creative, and engaged learners. Our programs aim to inspire curiosity, nurture talent, and create a positive, inclusive environment where every student can thrive.
